Jason Kash was born in Texas and raised in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He is an undergraduate student at the University of Kentucky, receiving his BFA in Studio Art and minoring in Philosophy and Art History. His interest in art comes from his belief in its power to transform thought into a bodily experience. His multidisciplinary interests in biology, geology, and philosophy manifest in his work syncretically to discuss his own experiences. Jason’s understanding of nature being in constant flux informs his focus on process in his work. The ancient caves and mountains of Kentucky have undoubtedly shaped this perspective.

Metalwork plays a large role in Jason’s work, which he has learned about extensively by participating in cast iron internship at Sculpture Trails Outdoor Museum and the National Conference on Contemporary Cast Iron Art and Practices in Birmingham, AL. From these experiences, Jason has gained interest in the power of the communal aspect of sculpture.
