My work explores themes of the body and its relation to biology and geology through layered processes. My actions exist in relation to natural processes of erosion and accumulation. Formally, this results in dynamic, layered objects that take on an existence of their own. The body is present and active in the work through mark-making and scale. Consequently, an embodied sense of time and physicality is created. Raw materials, like wood and iron, often exist in dialogue with synthetic materials, such as paint and polyurethane, to disrupt distinctions between nature and humanity. Additionally, these materials often convolute perceptions of permanence to emphasize fragility. What results is a cyclical perception of time, simultaneously immersed in past, present, and future, where all things disintegrate and transform.
